Mumbai, July 2, 2026: The Indian stock market ended on a positive note today, with the Nifty 50 closing at 24270.85, up 95.14 points or 0.39%. The session was characterized by a RISING WEDGE index which opened at 24375.65 , reached a high of 24378.15 and touched a low of 24252.35.The BSE Sensex also climbed, finishing the day at 77763.91. reflecting a gain of 261.79 points or 0.34%.
Sectoral trends remained mixed during the session, with Realty emerging as the top-performing sector, followed by Healthcare, Pharma, IT, Cement, and Midcap Healthcare, reflecting strong buying interest across defensive and technology stocks. Metal, REITs, Chemicals, and Financial Services also ended in positive territory with modest gains. On the other hand, PSU Bank was the worst-performing sector, witnessing significant selling pressure, while Media, Auto, Construction, Banking, FMCG, and Mid & Small Financial Services indices closed lower. The Private Bank index remained largely flat, highlighting selective participation within the financial space.
The Indian stock market witnessed a mixed trading session today, with the Nifty remaining range-bound and consolidating during the first half as investors awaited fresh market triggers. In the latter half of the session, mild profit booking emerged following the recent rally, leading to some intraday volatility.
