Mumbai, October 8, 2025 – Global fintech platform Pine Labs Limited in collaboration with Flipkart, India’s homegrown e-commerce marketplace, today unveiled its latest offering called the ‘Flipkart Bharat Yatra Card’. This digital prepaid card will empower commuters of public transport in India experience a seamless digital payments experience during travel in buses, metros, and other mass transit networks where National Common Mobility Card (NCMC) is enabled as a mode of payment. The Flipkart Bharat Yatra Card is expected to reduce queues at payment and kiosk counters, cut down recharge-related delays, and improve transit time for commuters.

Metro rail and rapid rail transit systems in India continue to expand and as per India’s Economic Survey 2025, the daily ridership has reached 10.2 million[1] as of January 2025. The Flipkart Bharat Yatra Card aims to provide this ever-rising commuter base with a reloadable non-KYC transit card along with a companion app to help with recharge and account management.

Commuters will be able to purchase these physical cards from the Flipkart app, including its quick commerce platform, Flipkart Minutes. After receiving the card, customers can activate and add money to it by scanning the UPI QR code printed on the card or through the Bharat Yatra Card app, available on both Google Play and Apple’s App Store.

Commenting on the launch, B Amrish Rau, CEO, Pine Labs Limited, said, “The Flipkart Bharat Yatra Card is a step towards a unified, inclusive, and frictionless mobility payment experience for Indians. Built on the rails of our full stack Issuing technology platform, the card aims to offer transit payment experience to commuters in India. The future of payments for urban mobility in India needs to be fast, interoperable, accessible to all, and that’s what we are aiming to do with this important product launch.”

With consumer reluctance in blocking their funds in multiple cards, the launch of the interoperable Flipkart Bharat Yatra Card is expected to help unify the in-transit payment platform for consumers in India.

With Flipkart Minutes enabling rapid doorstep delivery across key metros, customers can access the Flipkart Bharat Yatra Card quickly and conveniently. The launch reflects Flipkart’s commitment to expanding digital payment adoption, supporting the Government’s vision of a cashless economy, and building technology-led solutions that make everyday life simpler for millions of Indians.

Gaurav Arora, Vice President, Flipkart Payments, Flipkart said, “At Flipkart, we are focused on building for convenience and access, and the Flipkart Bharat Yatra Card is a strong step in that direction. Our collaboration with Pine Labs has made this possible, combining Flipkart’s reach with Pine Labs’ technology expertise to deliver a truly consumer-first transit payments solution. It’s a step toward truly connected urban living, and we are proud to support a vision that combines speed, simplicity, and digital enablement.”

The Flipkart Bharat Yatra Card is a Rs50 non-KYC, reloadable NCMC-enabled smart card designed for metro, bus, and parking payments. With offline balance support of up to Rs2,000, users can load funds via the Bharat Yatra app, Bharat Connect (formerly BBPS), any UPI app or from the payment counter at any metro station and update card balance by simply tapping it on an NFC-enabled Android phone. The companion app also allows linking multiple cards for easy management and transaction tracking.

The initial launch will ease transit payment experience for metro commuters in Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Chennai, and Ahmedabad, some of the big cities with mass transit systems like metros and buses. Additional new cities are expected to be added in the future.
