Mumbai, April 17, 2026: Balance Hero, the operator of the Indian financial platform True Balance, has appointed Debarya Dutta as Chief AI Officer (CAIO) and launched a dedicated AI division to accelerate its transition into an AI-native financial platform.
Dutta, a Cambridge alumnus and former AI leader at Uber, will lead the company’s enterprise-wide AI transformation, overseeing the integration of AI across customer services and internal operations.
The appointment marks the rollout of Balance Hero’s AI strategy, positioning AI not as a feature but as a core operating system — moving toward a model where AI becomes the default for decision-making across products and workflows.
“We are moving from isolated ML models to a unified intelligence layer said Debarya Dutta, Chief AI Officer, Balance Hero. “The goal is to evolve beyond just predicting to shaping the financial journey in real-time. By replacing blunt approvals with adaptive, precision pricing, we aren't just calculating trust, we are building the financial infrastructure for the next billion users.”
“Our mission of financial inclusion cannot be achieved without AI at scale,” said Charlie Lee, Chief Executive Officer, Balance Hero. “With a dedicated AI organization, we are accelerating our shift toward becoming a truly AI-native financial platform.”
The intelligence layer for the 'next billion' users
The AI division is oriented around a simple shift: moving from isolated AI use cases to AI as a continuous layer across the company.
Rather than being confined to specific products or teams, intelligence is being embedded directly into how decisions are made — from credit and personalization to how services are delivered in real time.
In parallel, workflows across the organization are evolving toward AI-native operating models, where human judgment and machine intelligence are tightly coupled rather than sequential.
To reinforce this shift, BalanceHero has introduced “AI Adoption and Transformation” as a company-wide KPI as a signal of how the company expects to operate.
The long-term direction is clear: over time, the majority of workflows will be shaped by AI, gradually redefining how teams build, decide, and execute.
Scaling the AI Organization
The CAIO-led division will expand across AI products, platforms, and enterprise productivity systems, supporting Balance Hero’s vision of a scalable, AI-driven financial ecosystem.
