12 Forged DDs Of Rs1.08 Cr Encashed


The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) registered the instant case against SalimSalauddin Shaikh, Ramesh Bhaisabh and others, on the basis of allegations that the accused persons attempted to defraud Bank of India by en-cashing the forged DDs of Rs.45 lakh.

Mumbai, October 2, 2025: The CBI Court, Ahmedabad has convicted and sentenced five private persons namely Salauddin Shaikh, Kriti Kumar R. Saha, Kamlesh D. Rao, Mahendra C. Vakharia and BhupendraManilalVakharia to 3 Years Rigorous Imprisonment (RI) with a fine of Rs.50,000/- each in a Bank Fraud case.

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) registered the instant case against SalimSalauddin Shaikh, Ramesh Bhaisabh and others, on the basis of allegations that the accused persons attempted to defraud Bank of India by en-cashing the forged DDs of Rs.45 lakh.  During the course of investigation, it was found that total 19 forged DDs of Rs. 9 lakh each were prepared, 12 DDs out of 19 were encased amounting to Rs. 1.08 Crore. 

On completion of investigation, CBI filed charge, on 10.09.2004, against the accused Salauddin Shaikh, Kriti Kumar R. Saha, Kamlesh D. Rao, Mahendra C. Vakharia, BhupendraManilalVakharia and Nasirullah Afzal Shaikh (expired during the trial and hence, the case against him was Abated).

The Court, after the trial, convicted and sentenced all five accused accordingly.
