Mumbai, March 16, 2024: With the aim of imparting skills to the youth of the country along with education, Maharashtra Skill Development Minister Mangal Prabhat Lodha has decided to start Acharya Chanakya Skill Development Centers in 1000 colleges of the state.

As part of the first phase, skill development centers will be started in 100 colleges. They got inaugurated by the Deputy Chief Minister of the state, Devendra Fadnavis recently.

Devendra Fadnavis said on this occasion that these skill development centers have been started as it is the need of the hour for the young generation of the country to acquire skills along with education so that the economy of our country becomes influential in the world. Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis appealed to the young men and women of the college to take advantage of this initiative. 

Fadnavis further said that keeping in view the changing technology and the increasing demand for skilled manpower globally, the center will impart the necessary skill training to the young men and women as per the time.

Mangal Prabhat Lodha said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has set the goal of making youth self-reliant by imparting skills. Accordingly, the Skill Development Department under the leadership of Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar; undertakes various activities from time to time. Today, we have started Skill Development Centers in 100 colleges to equip students with skills required for employment along with college education. We will start these skill development centers in 1000 colleges in different parts of the state in the next three months. In the first phase, 100 colleges have been selected. Gradually, more and more colleges will be involved. At least 150 youths will be imparted skill training from each skill development center and at least 20,000 youths will be imparted skill training. Apart from this, they will get credit facility.
