Union Minister Piyush Goyal launches 1st All-Women?? Clean Street Food Hub launched in Mumbai, strengtheninh local entrepreneurship

Mumbai, August 17, 2025: Union Minister and North Mumbai MP Piyush Goyal on Sunday inaugurated at Kandivali “*Mauli – the very first All-Women Operated Clean Street Food Hub.”* This marks yet another significant step in his vision of transforming “Uttar Mumbai into Uttam Mumbai.”
Referring to the uniqueness of this hub which is entirely managed by women from Self-Help Groups (SHGs), Goyal informed that these women have received training under the Food Safety Training and Certification (FoSTaC) program, and are now capable of running clean, safe, and hygienic food businesses. “This initiative has not only provided women with a dignified means of livelihood but has also strengthened local entrepreneurship”, Goyal added.
He also underlined that the Clean Street Food Hub is a fine blend of food safety, women’s empowerment, and community development. “Through the Eat Right India movement of FSSAI, we are not only strengthening food safety but also building livelihoods and a healthier society.”
Describing this as proud moment to him, Goyal said expressed confidence that like every home trusts aajji’s Dibba(डिब्बा), this hub-will be trusted by every Mumbaikar.
Beyond taste, Piyush Goyal stressed that FSSAI’s role for safety and trust is vital; with 405 certified hubs; 13 lakh+ vendors trained all over the country.
He called for a *Balance of Taste and Health* as obesity has become a silent crisis; and said that FSSAI’s Eat Right initiative is an apt solution for this.
Referring to Prime Mininster Modi’s Independence day call to take Bharat’s strength to new heights, Piyush Goyal termed Mauli (mother) as symbol of Swadeshi strength. Under this initiative, 6k local vendors have been formalised & upskilled with many inspiring stories including curly tale podcast story of a vada pav seller funding his son’s MBA education.
On this occasion North Mumbai MP Piyush Goyal also came down heavily on red tapism, complete policy paralysis in Congress led Govt, and said BJP’s Jan Bhagidari- trust- based deregulations & initiatives, has now empowered people in a big way in several fields.
Speaking about Way Forward for the Clean Street Food Hub initiative, Piyush Goyal called for ease of compliance via digi integration ; labels in regional lang+ influencer collabs. He also asked FSSAI to Scale it up to 100+hubs, green upgrades, tourism tie-ups, citizen feedback loops for continuous improvements as per consumer choices.
Referring to Japanese ambassador enjoyed misal pav in 2023, Piyush Goyal stressed, this shows the scope for Global, and at the same time he emphasized that hygiene & fair pricing, without compromising on quality, must be ensured.
Piyush Goyal further said that “Mauli Hub” is making Amchi Mumbai(आमचीमुंबई) a beacon of Cleanliness, Safety and self-esteem for a Viksit Bharat @2047.
As PM Modi urged “This is 140cr संकल्पों को सिद्धि में बदलनेका समय”, North Mumbai MP Piyush Goyal underscored that Mahavir Nagar in Constituency shows that India’s संकल्प is no longer a dream, but a movement.
“I myself am a foodie. However, maintaining the balance of taste and health is equally necessary. Today, he said, obesity has become a ‘silent killer.’ As one of the remedies, we all should reduce the use of oil by at least 10 percent in line with Prime Minister Modi’s call, Shri Goyal added. In this direction, FSSAI’s ‘Eat Right’ initiative can serve as a useful and guiding force,” Union Minister Piyush Goyal further said.

The launch of the Clean Street Food Hub is one of several developmental initiatives being carried out by Piyush Goyal in North Mumbai. These include –

Skill and Employment Centre – a state-of-the-art facility to provide youth with modern skill training and link them with job opportunities.
Focus on cleanliness – cleanliness and beautification drives in neighborhoods.
Tourism promotion – revival of the heritage “Vanrani Toy Train” and development of local tourist spots.
Quality education – upgrading schools with smart classes and modern facilities.
Goyal reiterated his resolve to transform “Uttar Mumbai into Uttam Mumbai” through a blend of social empowerment, infrastructure development, and community-driven initiatives.
