Mumbai, February 1, 2024: T Manish, Research analyst, SAMCO Securities has welcomed certain provision in the Union Budget 2024, presented by the Union Minister for Finance and Corporate Affairs, Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman in the Parliament in New Delhi today.

T. Manish: “The Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced scores of measures for the agriculture industry intended to improve the infrastructure of the sector. She announced establishing micro food processing units, upgrading storage facilities, efficient supply chains and branding, to reduce post-harvest losses. By extensive use of Nano DAP-advanced fertilizers on crops, across all the regions, would reduce the cultivating costs, to both farmers and also to the government by reducing the impact on fertilizer subsidies making it a win-win situation for users (farmers) and the government both. Companies that can benefit from the trend of Nano DAP are Paradeep Phosphates, Chambal Fertilizers & Chemicals, Nagarjuna Fertilizers & Chemicals, and Rashtriya Chemicals & Fertilizers (RCF).

The budget highlighted creating a big plan to help dairy farmers in India by developing a comprehensive programme. Despite India being the largest milk producer in the world, it has low productivity of Milch animals. This new program will be based on the success of existing models like the Rashtriya Gokul Mission, the National Livestock Mission. The funds allocated for this programme will be used to develop infrastructure for developing dairy processing and animal husbandry sector. Efforts are already made to control foot-and-mouth disease, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said.

These all will empower existing dairy plants to improve their productivity. Dairy & related products manufacturing companies will be benefitted from such moves. Parag Milk Foods, Dodla Dairy, Hatsun Agro, and Heritage Foods are likely to benefit.

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced the implementation of Pradhan Mantri Matsaya Sampada Yojana to be stepped up to boost productivity from 3 tons to 5 tons per hectare, double exports to Rs. 1 lakh crores and generate employment opportunities soon.

Setting up 5 integrated aquaculture parks to improve the ecosystem around fisheries. The listed companies that would benefit from these announcements are Godrej Agrovet, Apex Frozen Foods and Avanti Feeds.
