Mumbai, July 11, 2026: Shri Mauvin Godinho, Minister for Industries, Government of Goa, visited the 'CII Multi Skills Training Institute', to gain first-hand insights into CII's industry-led skilling ecosystem and explore opportunities to strengthen skill development initiatives in Goa. The visit highlighted innovative models that bridge the gap between education and employment while creating a future-ready workforce aligned with industry requirements.
During the visit, CII showcased its comprehensive approach to skill development through industry partnerships, model career centres, multi-skills training institutes, and employment-linked training programmes. The Minister was briefed on CII's initiatives in creating demand-driven training programmes, leveraging industry participation to enhance employability, and facilitating seamless transitions from education to employment. The discussions also covered international mobility pathways for skilled Indian talent, including specialised programmes in hospitality, manufacturing, healthcare, and emerging sectors.
The delegation was informed about CII's successful collaborations with leading industry partners across sectors, where training curricula are designed around industry requirements and supported by state-of-the-art laboratories and practical exposure. The institute's model of combining classroom training with hands-on industry experience has resulted in high placement rates and improved employee retention, demonstrating the effectiveness of industry-led skilling interventions.
The Minister appreciated CII's efforts in creating a robust skilling ecosystem that not only enhances employability but also addresses the evolving talent requirements of industry. Particular emphasis was placed on the role of scientific aptitude assessment, career counselling, and job-based training in ensuring that youth acquire skills aligned with market demand. Discussions also focused on expanding training programmes in high-growth sectors such as digital technologies, animation, gaming, hospitality, healthcare, and advanced manufacturing.
The visit also explored opportunities for replicating similar initiatives in Goa. CII presented the concept of establishing integrated skill development centres, model career centres, and international mobility hubs to prepare Goan youth for both domestic and global employment opportunities, particularly in hospitality, maritime, logistics, and manufacturing sectors. The delegation discussed leveraging available government infrastructure and unused institutional spaces to establish modern, industry-driven skilling centres that can serve as hubs for employment, entrepreneurship, and international placements.
Special attention was given to initiatives promoting women entrepreneurship and home-based livelihoods through skill development, product design, packaging, branding, and market access. The Minister shared ongoing efforts to support women's self-employment through training in garment manufacturing, handicrafts, and indigenous products, and expressed interest in collaborating with CII to enhance these initiatives through industry expertise, design support, and market linkages.
The visit concluded with a shared commitment to deepen collaboration between the Government of Goa and CII in building a globally competitive skilling ecosystem that supports industrial growth, enhances youth employability, promotes entrepreneurship, and positions Goa as a hub for skilled talent and international workforce mobility.
